Captain Steven Friloux, USN

Chief of Staff, Naval Sea Systems Command

CAPT Friloux is a native of Lafayette, LA, and enlisted in New Orleans, LA, in May 1988.  Following recruit training and Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST); he was awarded a NROTC scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU) and commissioned as a Supply Corps Officer in December 1993.  He re-designated as a Human Resource Officer in June 2006.  CAPT Friloux assumed the duties of Chief of Staff for Naval Sea Systems Command in August 2017.  

Operational assignments include Assistant Supply Officer on USS GARY (FFG 51), Supply Officer on USS KINKAID (DD 965), and Supply Department Head for Regional Support Organization San Diego.  He deployed twice to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations Southern Watch and Vigilant Sentinel and earned the Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, Officer of the Deck Underway, and Helicopter Control Officer qualifications.  He also deployed with Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Phoenix to Kabul, Afghanistan, as Force Management Officer and Navy Liaison Officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Human Resource Officer tours include Officer Recruiter for Navy Reserve Recruiting Area South, Officer Programs Officer and Executive Officer of Navy Reserve Recruiting Area Pacific, Operations Officer of Navy Recruiting District San Diego, Officer in Charge of Personnel Support Detachment Oceana, Commanding Officer of Navy Recruiting District Houston, Deputy Commodore of Navy Recruiting Region West, Chief of Staff of Navy Recruiting Command, and Commanding Officer of Navy Pay and Personnel Support Center (NPPSC). 

CAPT Friloux earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from LSU and a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management from National University. He completed Air Command and Staff College (JPME I) at USAF Air University and Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JPME II) at the Joint Forces Staff College of National Defense University. He is certified as a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).  He also teaches Executive Leadership and Human Resource courses as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Phoenix.  

His awards include the Legion of Merit (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
