Lloyd Jones

Deputy Director, Navy Regional Maintenance Center

Mr. Lloyd H. Jones is a native of Roper, N.C. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned as a naval officer in 1986.

Mr. Jones’s first tour of duty was onboard USS King (DDG 41), where he served as Auxiliaries Officer, Damage Control Assistant, and Main Propulsion Assistant. After completing his Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) qualifications, he was accepted into the Navy’s Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) program. In 1992, Mr. Jones completed his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). He was then assigned to Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) from November 1992 until May 1995 as Ship’s Superintendent, Assistant Project Superintendent, and also as the Command Docking Officer. He then served as Advance Planning Officer and Ship Systems Engineer on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Forces, Atlantic from June 1995 until May 1997. 

From July 1997 until October 1998, Mr. Jones served as Main Propulsion Assistant onboard USS Independence (CV 62), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. He then served as Assistant Project Officer for the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) Extended Selected Restricted Availability (ESRA) and Senior Docking Observer at Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, USN, Newport News, Va. from November 1998 until November 2000. In December 2000, he reported to President, Board of Inspection and Survey (PRESINSURV) as the Hull Department Head and Senior Damage Control Inspector.

From March 2003 until November 2005, Mr. Jones was assigned to Program Executive Office, Aircraft Carriers, Aircraft Carrier Programs (PMS 312) as the Assistant Program Manager for Refueling Complex Overhauls.  He then served as Project Officer, New Construction Aircraft Carriers, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, USN, Newport News, Va., from December 2005 until February 2009. After successfully completing builder’s trials for USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77), the Navy’s tenth and final NIMITZ Class Carrier, Mr. Jones reported to U.S. Fleet Forces Command as the Carrier Maintenance Branch Head from February 2009 to February 2011.

 

After completing 35 years of Naval Service in 2011, Mr. Jones became the Director of Operations for Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center, where he served as the principal advisor to CNRMC for all maintenance program execution from February 2011 until July 2012. From there, Mr. Jones spent the next five years in the private sector where he was the Carrier Multi-Ship, Multi-Option (MSMO) Program Manager for Earl Industries, the Director of Carrier Operations for General Dynamics NASSCO, and the Director of Programs for General Dynamics NASSCO. 

From May 2017 until September 2018, Mr. Jones was the Program Manager for the CNRMC Professional Support Services Contract, a role in which he provided direct support to CNRMC in the areas of ship readiness, sustainment, as well as the planning and execution of surface ship maintenance and modernization.

With his selection as CNRMC’s Deputy Director, Mr. Jones will be responsible for leading the daily business operations across all Regional Maintenance Centers.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and Navy Achievement Medal in addition to various campaign and service awards. In addition, he received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
