What We Do:
Engineering & Planning Officer (Code 200)
- Reports to the commanding officer for the organization, administration, and supervision of the Engineering & Planning Department, with full Fleet technical assistance operations and management.
Engineering & Planning Project Support Division (Code 210)
- Manages Class Maintenance Plan (CMP), Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessment (BMDRA), and Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Readiness Assessment (C5RA) programs.
- Provides Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) Material Inspection (MI) and Type Commander (TYCOM) Mid-Cycle Inspection (MCI) support services.
Planning & Estimating Chief Planner (Code 225)
- Manages all job planning, test packaging, work release and certification for ship availabilities.
- Reviews and maintains NAVSEA Standard Items (SI), and develops and issues SRF-JRMC local SI.
- Provides technical work documents, accurate cost estimates and material orders for all work supporting ship modernization and repair.
Chief Engineer (Code 240)
- Serves as warranted technical authority representing NAVSEA 05 via written warrant.*
* This warrant grants ability to act on behalf of the technical community for waterfront issues on all 7th Fleet surface ships. This authority extends to Sasebo within Japan and the rest of 7th Fleet via Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific (CLWP) in Singapore. Via naval message designation, SRF-JRMC holds Naval Supervisory Activity authority in all of 7th Fleet with some Naval Support Activity duties delegated to CLWP.
Engineering & Design Division (Code 241)
- Processes incoming and outgoing Liaison Action Requests (LARs), Consolidated Shipboard Allowance Listing (COSAL) updates and reports.
- Administers and maintains engineering databases and technical library.
- Develops drawings, sketches and engineering liaison memorandums (ELM) to provide designs and plans for repairs, modifications and modernizations of various structures, such as naval architecture and marine, mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment.
Project Engineering Division (Code 245)
- Reviews job summaries and assist the Waterfront Chief Engineer with review and adjudication of expiring or new Departures from Specification (DFS).
- Oversees Trouble Desk process, engineers and planners.
- Facilitates timely resolution and integration of any technical discrepancies during executing availabilities.
Test Engineering Division (Code 246)
- Reviews project work packages to help develop project schedules, including systems take down sequencing and restorations.
- Oversees overall test programs by developing and maintaining “key event” boundaries and ensuring all testing is accomplished in accordance with NAVSEA-approved requirements and procedures.
- Plans phases for the accomplishment of depot-level repairs for designated combat systems, weapons, C4I and C5I systems on carrier (CVN) and surface combatant ships.
Hull, Mechanical & Electrical Fleet Industrial Support Division (Code 280)
- Provides subject matter expertise, fleet technical assistance, industrial support and logistics to ships assigned to and operating within the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
- Delivers immediate response and technical guidance to ships force for trouble-shooting, maintenance, repair and training on ship’s propulsion, auxiliary, electrical and marine gas turbine systems.
- Issues technical work documents for steam plant cleanliness controls (SPCC) diver life support, oxygen and nitrogen systems, high quality water and SUBSAFE/Level I.
- Manages the imaging system (periscope) maintenance program.
Combat Systems Division (Code 290)
- Provides fleet technical assistance (FTA) to ships assigned to and operating within the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
- Delivers immediate distance and onsite support and technical guidance for maintenance and emergent repairs to shipboard combat systems equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs faults outside of ships force capabilities, via subject matter experts.
- Conducts complex systems and materiel assessments, including inspections, class maintenance.
Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I) Systems Division (Code 291)
- Provides fleet technical assistance (FTA) to ships assigned to and operating within the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
- Delivers immediate distance and onsite support and technical guidance for maintenance and emergent repairs to shipboard C41 systems equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs faults outside of ships force capabilities, via subject matter experts.
- Conducts complex systems and materiel assessments, including inspections and class maintenance.
