Captain Kevin B. Terry, U.S. Navy
Commanding Officer, Supervisor of Shipbuilding,
Conversion and Repair, USN
Newport News, Virginia

Captain Terry is a native of Middletown, New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University with Honors in May 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned the degrees of Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Engineer in 1995. He became an Engineering Duty Officer in 1997.

Captain Terry’s shore assignments include Atlantic Fleet Force Radiological Controls Officer, Assistant Project Officer at SUPSHIP Newport News for the construction of USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of USS Nimitz (CVN 68), Assistant Program Manager for In-service Aircraft Carriers on the staff of PEO Aircraft Carriers, and Force Naval Engineer on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (CNAL).

His sea tours include USS Nimitz (CVN 68) as Chemistry and Radiological Assistant, USS John Rodgers (DD 983) as Fire Control and Missiles Officer, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) as Main Propulsion Assistant, and USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as Reactor Officer.

Captain Terry was previously assigned as the Assistant Chief of Staff and Director of Ship Maintenance and Materiel for Commander Naval Air Force, Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. He and his staff were responsible for the maintenance, modernization, and materiel condition of the Navy’s east coast aircraft carrier force.

In November 2010, he assumed command as Commanding Officer of Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, USN, Newport News, Virginia responsible for the U. S. Navy’s Aircraft Carrier and Submarine Ship Construction, Nuclear Refueling and Repair Programs at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, Newport News Operations.

Captain Terry’s awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (three gold stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three gold stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit awards.
