Captain Robert A. Crowe, USN
Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Bath, ME

Captain Crowe currently serves as the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), Conversion & Repair, Bath in Bath, Maine. In this position, he oversees the construction of U.S. Navy ships by private shipbuilders in Bath, Maine, San Diego, Calif. and Marinette, Wis.
Crowe began his Navy career as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard USS Schenectady (LST 1185), where he served from 1987 to 1990. Other Surface Warfare Officer tours include: Officer in Charge (OIC) of Diesel Engineering Officer of the Watch School and OIC of Yard Patrol Operations at Surface Warfare Officer’s School Pacific from 1990 to 1993; engineer officer aboard USS Avenger (MCM-1) from 1993 to 1995; and engineer officer aboard USS Comstock (LSD-45) from 1995 to 1998.
Crowe was designated an engineering duty officer in 1998. Subsequent tours include: SUPSHIP Pascagoula as DDG-51 production officer and Post Shakedown Availability (PSA) officer from 1999 to 2001; assistant chief of staff for maintenance at Commander, Naval Surface Group Pacific North West from 2003 to 2004; and deputy director, Total Ship Power Division, Naval Sea Systems Command from 2004 to 2006. Crowe was the OIC of SUPSHIP Bath’s San Diego detachment and program manager’s representative for the T-AKE shipbuilding program from 2006 to 2009, where he oversaw the delivery of eight USNS Lewis & Clark class T-AKEs to the Military Sealift Command. His last assignment was engineering duty assignments branch head at Naval Personnel Command.
Crowe graduated from Texas A&M University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned an ensign that same year. He completed his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2003 in Monterey, California. He is a graduate of the University of Redlands, Redlands, Calif., where he completed a Master of Business Administration in 1993.
Crowe’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards).
