STUDENT CAREER EXPERIENCE PROGRAM |
|
| Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) is designed to attract talented students to federal public service. It’s an opportunity to earn money and continue your education, to train with people who manage the day-to-day business of the Government, and enhance your educational experience.
SCEP work experience must be directly related to the student’s educational program and career goals. A partnership between the school and employer provides an opportunity for students to apply the knowledge they gain in the classroom to the reality of the workplace. Students may be converted to permanent appointments within 120 days after graduation, provided they have worked at least 640 hours in the program and meet all academic and position qualification requirements.
You are eligible for SCEP if you are:
At least 16 years of age. Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student. Enrolled in an accredited school on at least a half-time basis. In good academic standing with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Enrolled in the school’s Student Career Experience Program. A U.S. Citizen. Enrolled in a course of study related to the position being filled.
