Bartholomew, a first class surface sonar technician, is assigned as a surface sonar systems fleet liaison at NUWC. He also serves as the NUWC military detachment leading petty officer for 17 personnel.
Bartholomew’s technical expertise supports systems engineering, in-service support, and foreign military sales missions at NUWC. His leadership and technical skills in the test and evaluation of surface sonar suites have been key to the on time delivery of next generation sonar systems to follow on phases of development. He also oversaw the relocation of more than 75,000 pieces of equipment and technical documentation in support of the Division’s newly established Towed Array Repair facility and the installation of a land-based integration test lab in Newport.
Among his many collateral duties, Bartholomew also serves as Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) Coordinator standing security watches and coordinating training for other members of the ASF.
Bartholomew is also active in the local community including volunteer service with the Rhode Island Girl Scouts of America, his church’s bible school, and many hours designing, and maintaining the official website for his home town in Gerry, N.Y.
Bartholomew will represent NUWC headquarters at the Naval Sea Systems Command Sailor of the Year selection which will occur later this month in Washington. D.C.
