Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division is committed to supporting the Navy’s surface fleet. We also strive to be a good neighbor and positive presence in Ventura County and in the communities surrounding our detachments. The command and detachments support the local community through educational and community outreach programs, through the purchase of goods and services from local companies, and by supporting local business and industry in other ways.
With almost 2,000 civilian employees, over 100 military personnel, and a business base greater than $600 million per year, the command has a significant economic impact on Ventura County. In addition, large and small local contractors support NSWC PHD’s mission of providing safe and effective warfare systems.
NSWC PHD takes pride in interacting with members of the community and participating in community events, as well as creating activities and events that foster community involvement.
We serve the community by providing:
- Base tours for community groups
- Tutors for schools
- Mentors
- Science fair judges
- Guest speakers
- An Annual National Engineers Week event for local middle schools
- A Pre-Engineering Program for high school students
- Blood Drive donors · And a variety of other events.
