Opportunities for Internship

Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP)

 Sponsored by the Office of Naval Research

  •  Competitive ten week paid summer internship
  • $7,690 for undergraduates; $10,250 for graduates
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 18 years of age
  • Must be enrolled in an approved college and have completed sophomore year

 Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

NSWC PCD competitive eight week paid summer employment

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age as of May 1, 2012
  • Must be a current high school student or a college freshman or sophomore
  • Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a college major in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) with some limited opportunities in the Business field
  • Must be able to satisfy any security requirements and be physically able to perform assigned work

 Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART)

 Sponsored by the Office of Secretary of Defense Scholarship for Service Program
  • One year of Department of Defense (DoD) civilian service for each year of scholarship
  • Full tuition, Book and Fees
  • Generous stipend (~$2,000 a month, or more)
  • Paid summer employment at a DoD laboratory
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 18 years of age as of August 01, 2011
  • Must be willing to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories
  • Must be willing to accept post-graduate employment with DoD

Additionally:                                                                                                                                                   *Undergraduate applicants must be currently enrolled ina regionally accredited U.S. college or university and have a high school diploma/GED. Current high school students are not eligible to apply.

**Graduate applicants can be either currently enrolled in a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or awaiting notification of admission to such. If awaiting admission, you must be accepted for entrance in the fall 2011 term.

*Freshman/First Year Associate's Program applicants must report an ACT or SAT Reasoning Test Score. Subject tests are not required. In addition, individuals who apply during their Freshman/First Year must obtain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the fall academic term of their Freshman/First Year. Freshman/First Year Associate's Program applicants will be required to submit an official transcript reflecting their fall academic term grades to establish compliance with ths requirement.

**Graduate applicants must have taken the GRE and test scores must be reportable by ETS. Subject tests are not required.

Student Career Employment Program (SCEP)

 Formally the NSWC PCD Co-Op Program, SCEP provides employment opportunities for sutdents enrolled in STEM curriculums at accredited colleges or universities while pursuing their degree. SCEP is a formally structured program that requires a written agreement by all parties (agency, school and student)

 Financial Support

  • Salary is based upon completion of a specific numer of academic years
  • NSWC PCD pays 50 percent tuition and up to $300.00 towards books each semester

Eligibility

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 18 years old
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all declared major courses
  • Must be registered in the university's Co-Op Program
  • Must be able to satisfy any security requirements and be physically able to perform assigned work
