Electronics Technician

You will exploit improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and develop new Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) tools and methods to counter emerging IED threats. IED exploitation activities include the development of device theory of operation and basic electronic circuit analysis. Devices may be previously unknown and undocumented commercial production items, modified commercial items or non-commercial devices. You will also be required to analyze recovered IEDs for such things as trends in usage, unusual technical characteristics, and quality of manufacture. Your exploitation and analysis results will be used to develop conceptual designs for new tools and methods of employing existing EOD tools to defeat expected future threats. These results must be documented in detailed reports. EOD Robots are also used to defeat IEDs. Your robot associated duties will include resolving production line problems, performing acceptance tests, acting as the contracting officer representative for resolution of technical problems, implementing product improvements, configuration management, field distribution, training, and repair. A significant amount of training is provided in preparation for the assignment. The successful candidate must possess a secret clearance or be able to obtain a secret clearance. Top Secret clearance is desired.
