Meeting the mission: San Diego electrician fulfilled by supporting defense

Bill Kennington, an electrician with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility’s San Diego Detachment Temporary Services Division. Kennington has been with the command since August 2011 and is a graduate of the Southwestern Regional Apprenticeship Program in San Diego.

Carderock Engineers Help Marines Soar

Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, are now capable of ~additive manufacturing, also known as 3-D printing, which is the technique of replicating digital 3-D models as tangible objects. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy's Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Pacific.

They are in the midst of a five-day course called 'Propel' that provides an introductory level awareness of Warfare Center expectations for supervisors. The NSWCDD tour and briefings - focusing on the Electromagnetic Railgun Facility, the Potomac River Test Range, and the Human Performance Laboratory - gave the Propel students a deeper look into the work being done at Dahlgren.
