DAHLGREN, Va. (April 12, 2016) - Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michelle Howard and Rear Admiral DeWolfe Miller, assistant deputy Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) for Warfare Systems pause after meetings with senior Navy scientists and engineers.  Howard, Miller, and Claude Barron, OPNAV Assured Command and Control director, received briefs on programs managed by three NSWCDD technical departments: Strategic & Computing Systems Department; Electromagnetic & Sensor Systems Department; and the Gun & Electric Weapon Systems Department. NAVSEA Remembers USS Thresher

NAVSEA commemorated the 53rd anniversary of the loss of USS Thresher (SSN 593) with a presentation by Bruce W. Harvey at the Washington Navy Yard April 6. Harvey, son of Lt. Cmdr. John W. Harvey, commanding officer of the Thresher at the time of the tragedy, was the guest speaker.

MSPB Chairman to Navy Audience: Engage for Success in Federal Government

U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) Chairman Susan Tsui Grundmann - keynote speaker for the National Women's History Month Observance held at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in March - talks about the power of engagement and its importance to achieving greater opportunities and success in federal government. Grundmann also discussed an MSPB report related to the 2016 theme for National Women's History Month: "Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government." The report cited changes within the federal government, reflecting diminishing differences between women and men in important characteristics such as education and experience. It recommended actions that agencies and managers can take to further progress in the representation and advancement of women and increase fairness for all employees.

MAKE Lab opens bringing new AM opportunities to NSWC Carderock Division
