Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division's Mission:
To conduct research, development, test and evaluation, in-service support of mine warfare systems, mines, naval special warfare systems, diving and life support systems, amphibious/expeditionary maneuver warfare systems, other missions that occur primarily in coastal (littoral) regions and to execute other responsibilities as assigned by the Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center.

NSWC Panama City personnel provide integrated MCM tactics expertise for BALTOPS 22

Personnel representing various global military units supporting Exercise Baltic Operations 2022 (BALTOPS 22) pause at the Ravlunda site during National Day of Sweden, June 6. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) Integrated Mine Countermeasures Tactics team provided the combined task group staff with support during the exercise and brought that experience back to the Navy lab. BALTOPS, which began in 1975, is the premier maritime-focused annual exercise that takes place in the Baltic Region and demonstrates partnership, security and preserving regional peace. Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) provided equipment, personnel, and expertise to demonstrate the modular capability of the Mine Countermeasure (MCM) Mission Package (MP) aboard the United States Naval Ship Hershel “Woody” Williams (T-ESB 4) earlier this month. NSWC PCD is the lead engineering activity for MCM MP.

The Airborne Surface Quad Thruster Interface Device, or ASQUID, attaches to the side of a MH-60 helicopter and allows the crew to lowers a MK-18 into the water to search for mines preventing Navy personnel from having to enter a minefield.
