CRANE, Ind. – Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) held its annual Inventor Recognition Event in conjunction with its In-House Laboratory Independent Research (ILIR) and Independent Applied Research (IAR) Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) Program Review on November 28. Fifty people attended the event that took place at the High-Velocity (HiVe) Innovation Center at NSWC Crane, where 35 inventors were recognized, and 13 ILIR/IAR programs were displayed.

NSWC Crane employee Mr. Patrick Shaffer is a member of a multi-agency team that was recognized by the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) during its 2023 National Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio on March 28-30. Members from Sandia National Laboratories, Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office, Strategic Systems Programs, and Naval Sea System Program received FLC’s 2023 Interagency Partnership Award for advancing hypersonics technology.

USI, NSWC Crane sign agreement to conduct research on chemical reactions

USI President Dr. Ronald Rochon and NSWC Crane Commanding Officer CAPT Mark Oesterreich signed a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) in a ceremony on October 22, 2018 hosted at NSWC Crane. The CRADA between NSWC Crane and USI allows both entities to leverage each other’s subject matter experts, laboratory space, and high-tech equipment.

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division and Ivy Tech Community College were awarded the State and Local Economic Development Award from the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) for their partnership on a STEM summer camp. For the past two years, NSWC Crane and The Gayle & Bill Cook Center for Entrepreneurship at Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington have collaborated on the camp, which targeted young people with entrepreneurial dreams from grade 7 to 10.
