NSWC Crane Human Resource Specialist Awarded the Department of Navy Civilian HR & EEO Community Award for Excellence

By NSWC Crane Corporate Communications

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) Human Resource (HR) Specialist Jill Wininger was recently awarded the Department of the Navy (DON) Civilian HR & EEO (CHREEO) Community Award for Excellence in recognition of her outstanding level of performance and aspiring leadership within the HR & EEO community. Her significant contributions to the NSWC Crane Human Resources Office has earned tremendous amount of credibility and respect from her peers, the union, and command leadership as a subject expert and adviser in employee discipline and the drug free workplace program.

The DON CHREEO Community Awards for Excellence program recognizes teams and individuals whose contributions have resulted in exceptional impact or improvement in the human resources community.

Wininger began her career at Crane in 2009 as a Management Clerk Intern where she assisted and prepared NSWC Crane leadership for high level visits, formulated articles for the weekly bulletin, and coordinated events such as command luncheons, job fairs, Change of Commands, Navy Balls, and the internal Strategic Business Communication Conference.

Wininger was detailed into the Labor & Employee Relations (LER) Branch within the HR Division in April of 2019 and permanently assigned in May of 2020.

The LER Branch Manager, Brittany Mitchell, states that “In just under two years, Jill has exceeded all expectations and has proven to be an outstanding LER specialist within the Human Resources Office (HRO).”

As a Human Resource Specialist, Wininger was instrumental in preparing NSWC Crane for the Inspector General (IG) audit. As a result of her efforts, LER successfully passed the audit with zero actionable findings in her areas of responsibility. Wininger also quickly became the primary specialist leading several working groups and teams within the LER Branch.
