Rodriguez Honored for Impact on Warfare Center U.S. Marine Corp Collaboration Team

By NSWCDD Corporate Communications

NSWC Dahlgren Division engineer Dr. Luis Rodriguez received the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Center Award from NSWCDD Commanding Officer Capt. Godfrey ‘Gus’ Weekes and NSWCDD Technical Director John Fiore at the command’s Leadership Forum in November.

Rodriguez was honored with the award for his leadership role in the Warfare Center United States Marine Corp Collaboration Team. He successfully collaborated with the team across the Warfare Centers, NAVSEA, and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) in the development of a long-term strategy to determine resources, processes, and needs for the Marine Corps' strategic assessment. The team identified $3 million in cost savings to the program by avoiding duplication of effort in the generation of electronic drawings for the Amphibious Assault Vehicle and the U.S. Navy platform well deck.

“The Warfare Center United States Marine Corp Collaboration Team embraces ‘we are one NAVSEA’ and values fostering relationships across Warfare Centers, SPAWAR, our sponsors, and the warfighter,” said Rodriguez, the NSWCDD Distributed Experimentation and Test Environment Division head. “The warfighter benefits and good things can happen when we share our knowledge and collaborate. This award recognizes the contribution of the people who held membership in the collaboration team before me, such as Mr. Charles Frawley.  Most of the NSWC Dahlgren credit should go to him for this particular cost avoidance achievement, along with Mr. Rich David at NSWC Carderock and Alan Kirkman at NSWC Crane.”
