Midwest Tech Bridge and NSWC Crane to Host Regional Defense Innovation Summit

By Submitted Article

(Crane, IN, May 2, 2023) – NavalX Midwest Tech Bridge in partnership with Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC Crane) will provide a unique opportunity for collaboration with a focus on microelectronics and advanced manufacturing. The Midwest Defense Innovation Summit (MDIS) will take place on October 17 & 18, 2023 at the Dallara IndyCar Factory in Speedway, Indiana. Registration for the event will be available via the website: www.MDIS2023.com

“The Midwest Defense Innovation Summit will once again provide a forum where great minds come together to share great ideas,” explained Dr. Angie Lewis (SES) Technical Director, NSWC Crane. “Our mission at NSWC Crane is to provide our Nation’s Warfighters with a decisive advantage through delivery of technical solutions for the rapidly changing combat environment. This event will be a success if participants make new connections, walk away with new ideas or have conversations that help to shape and field new technology.”

The event will attract participants from throughout the Midwest and across the nation. Participating entities include the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Army Research Laboratory Central (ARL), and NASA Glenn Research Center.

Members of academia and industry, including inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs are welcome to attend.

“Indiana and NSWC Crane have a rich tradition of cultivating innovation ecosystem partnerships. Creating an atmosphere for collaboration and idea exchange is really what MDIS is all about,” said Dr. Kyle Werner, NSWC Crane Deputy Technical Director. “Our aim is to ensure that this is much more than just a typical conference, meaning ideas stemming from this event will lead to an accelerated development of new technology that transitions to our DoD Warfighters.”

Entities supporting MDIS include the Applied Research Institute (ARI) and Dioltas. “We are excited to collaborate with ARI and Dioltas this year,” said Anne Fields Lucas, Midwest Tech Bridge Director. “These partnerships enable us to break barriers typically associated with government and provide heightened collaboration with academia and industry.”
