YOKOSUKA, Japan – Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) completed Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Dewey’s (DDG 105) selected restricted availability (SRA) on time, March 6.
The project team, production shops and ship's force executed over 74,000 man-days, valued at over $26.6 million during their fiscal year 2022 SRA. During this complex availability, numerous life-cycle assessments, inspections and repairs, multiple command control, communications, computers, intelligence, electrical, and mechanical system upgrades were completed. The columniation of repairs and upgrades have increased the material and warfighting readiness of USS Dewey in the highest embodiment of Delivering Combat Power to the 7th Fleet.
“Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to ensure USS Dewey completed her SRA on time,” said Capt. Neil Sexton, SRF-JRMC commanding officer. “The combined efforts of our unique binational SRF-JRMC team contributed to the success of this project. Because of their dedication and perseverance, USS Dewey returned back to the U.S. 7th Fleet.”
SRF-JRMC’s mission is to keep the U.S. 7th Fleet operationally ready by using advanced industrial techniques to maintain, modernize and repair 22 forward-deployed naval forces ships homeported in Yokosuka and Sasebo.
USS Dewey serves as one of the fleet’s forward-deployed guided-missile destroyers supporting regional security and ballistic missile defense efforts through regular patrols, exercises and port visits in the INDO-PACOM area of operations.
