EMCM (SS/SW) Eric L. Riddle, USN

Command Master Chief, Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston S.C.

A native of Frankfort, Ky, Master Chief Riddle enlisted in the Navy on June 2nd, 1989.  Upon graduation from the nuclear pipeline he reported to his first submarine, USS DANIEL BOONE (SSBN-629) stationed in Charleston SC, in August 1991. While onboard Daniel Boone he completed three deterrent patrols, earned his Submarine Warfare device, and completed decommissioning.

 

In March 1994, Master Chief Riddle reported to USS GREENEVILLE (SSN-772) for new construction duty in Newport News, Va. While onboard Greeneville he completed construction and all sea trials and was advanced to First Class Petty Officer. He completed his tour in November 1996 following the Post Shakedown Availability.

           

In January 1997, Master Chief Riddle reported for staff instructor duty at NPTU Charleston. During his tour at NPTU he earned designation as Master Training Specialist and was selected for Staff Training Group

 

In November 2000, Master Chief Riddle reported to USS FRANK CABLE (AS-40) in Agana, Guam following the 4 month Radiological Control Technician Qualification School at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. During his tour on Frank Cable he qualified Radiological Control Shift Supervisor, earned designation as Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.

 

Master Chief Riddle reported to Bangor, Wa. for duty as Electrical Division Leading Chief Petty Officer on USS GEORGIA (SSBN-729) in January 2003. During his tour on Georgia he completed three deterrent patrols, assumed duties as Engineering Department Master Chief, completed the Silent Hammer experiment in San Diego in 2004, was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer, and completed a change of homeport to Norfolk, Va. He completed his tour during the SSGN conversion in October 2005.

 

In November 2005, Master Chief Riddle reported to NNPTC Charleston for staff instructor duty. He served as the Reactor Principles Division Leading Chief Petty Officer for two years and completed his tour as Class Director. During his NNPTC tour he an Associate’s degree and Bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State College. He completed his tour in May 2009.

 

In June 2009, Master Chief Riddle reported to USS SAN FRANCISCO (SSN-711) home-ported in San Diego, Ca. for duty as Engineering Department Master Chief. During his tour on San Francisco he successfully led his department through two operational exams and the first deployment since the bow restoration following the grounding in 2005. He was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2010 and completed his tour in November 2011 following the Pre-Inactivation Restricted Availability. Following San Francisco he reported to Submarine Squadron ELEVEN for staff duty while awaiting follow-on orders, he completed his staff tour at the squadron in May 2012.

 

In May 2012, Master Chief Riddle reported for duty as Military Exam Leader and Command Master Chief at Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC) located in Pensacola, Florida. He completed his tour at NETPDTC in February 2015.

 

Master Chief Riddle is entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and numerous unit and service awards.
