Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) - Range Complex

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Navy has prepared an Environmental Impact Statement/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement (EIS/OEIS). The EIS process is used to evaluate the potential environmental impacts associated with the extension of the NAVSEA NUWC Keyport Range Complex, Washington State. The extension proposed is to provide additional space and volume outside the existing operational areas, and to support the existing and evolving range operations of Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport, Wash. The NEPA EIS process is for the area within 12 nautical miles and inland waters. The Overseas EIS process is used outside 12 nautical miles. An area off the coast of Washington which is part of the scope of this proposal extends outside 12 nautical miles, therefore both the EIS and OEIS process are described in the final document.

The final step of the EIS process is a Record of Decision (ROD). The ROD was signed by the Office of the Secretary of the Navy on July 7, 2011.
