Port Hueneme, California

The climate and surrounding areas make for a year round playground in Southern California. Ocean marinas, lakes, mountain wilderness, miles of beaches and the culture and glitter of Los Angeles are less that an hour’s drive away.

Over half of Ventura County is national, state, or local parkland. Residents have easy access to a myriad of outdoor activities such as camping, biking, tennis, swimming, surfing, sailing and horseback riding.

Port Hueneme offers a diverse economy, ranging from manufacturing to tourism, and is home to Naval Base Ventura County. Even though Port Hueneme offers the charm of being off the beaten track, easy access to the rest of the world is available via the Southern Pacific Railroad, U.S. Highway 101, Highway 1, and numerous airports.

The commercial Port of Hueneme is the only deep-water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Approximately $2.5 billion worth of cargo passes through the Port each year making it the fourth busiest in the State.

White Sands, New Mexico and Surrounding Areas
With over 350 days of sunshine a year, White Sands and the surrounding communities provide visitors with an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of activities year-round including camping, hiking, golf, swimming, tennis and much more.

In south central New Mexico, west of Alamagordo, are the world's largest dune fields of gypsum sand. The brilliant white sand dunes cover an area of nearly 230 square miles, with many dunes rising to over 60 feet. White Sands National Monument preserves a major portion of this gypsum dune field, along with the plants and animals that have successfully adapted to this constantly changing environment. Visitors can sightsee along Dunes Drive, picnic in the Heart of the Dunes area, go hiking, go backcountry camping, and observe plants and wildlife along the boardwalk.

With an exotic desert atmosphere and landscapes rich in cultural history, White Sands, New Mexico, is a great place to watch the sunset.

Virginia Beach, Virginia
The roar of the ocean and the brilliant sunrises have been drawing visitors to Virginia Beach for more than 100 years. It's a 310 square-mile vacation play land that offers sun, surf, sports, shopping, dining and more.

The Norfolk - Virginia Beach-Newport News area, known as Hampton Roads, is home to more than 1.5 million Virginians and also includes the cities of Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. The Port of Virginia, the second largest port on the East Coast, has long been the backbone of the region's economy. A sophisticated integration of sea, air, land, and rail transportation has ensured the success of the area's economy and continues to play a significant role in Virginia's economy as well.

Virginia Beach is home to numerous attractions including The Virginia Marine Science Museum (one of the top aquariums in the country), The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, Nauticus, The National Maritime Center, The Old Coast Guard Station, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, Ocean Breeze Water Park, Virginia Zoological Park
