Mission:  Provide our customers the highest quality and technically accurate engineering and planning products available in support of our nation’s strategic deterrent.

Vision:  We are a highly capable and responsive group of engineers and planners providing our command with professional, skilled, and dedicated people.  

 

what we do

Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Branch

  • Provides technical resolution to Production, Planning and Quality Assurance Personnel via the Engineering Memorandum process, primarily for waterfront issues.
  • Prepares and responds to electronic Liaison Action Requests.
  • Prepares and responds to electronic Departure from Specifications
  • Review Unrestricted Operations / Maintenance Requirements Card (URO/MRC) inspection data sheets.

 

Structural and Weld Engineering Branch

  • Provides structural engineering, protective coatings, welding process instructions, and/or weld heat controls guidance as requested.
  • Provides rigging/lifting & handling engineering support for rigging & crane operations at TRF Bangor.
  • Manages the URO/MRC Program for TRFB
  • Accomplishes URO/MRC structural visual inspections.
  • Generates, reviews, and directs repair actions based on URO inspection results; submits TRFB performed URO/MRC reports to NAVSEA and SUBMEPP.

 

Refit Industrial Facility Engineering Branch

  • Provides technical resolution to Production, Radar Depot, Trident Planned Equipment Replacement Program (TRIPER), Planning, and Quality Assurance personnel via the Engineering Memorandum process.
  • Prepares and responds to electronic Liaison Action Requests.
  • Prepares and responds to electronic Departure from Specifications.
  • Reviews URO/MRC inspection data sheets. 

 

Shore Logistical Technical Data Branch

  • Provides Logistical Technical Data for planning, engineering, production shops and ship’s Force personnel in support of the maintenance and repair of Trident submarines per the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual.
  • Research, print and assemble all work package requests submitted from the Planning Department.
  • Maintains, updates and inventories all technical manuals used at the refit industrial facility and Delta pier in support of ships maintenance.
  • Provides training to command personnel and Ship’s Force on websites, databases, and programs utilized by the Logistical Technical Data Center in support of Trident maintenance.
  • Maintains and Provides updates to ATIS 1.5 that are used by Planning, Engineering, Productions Shops, Quality Assurance, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and their detachments.
  • Scans completed work packages and inputs them into the Historical Tool-Kit database (Hit-Kit)

 

Fleet Logistical Technical Data Branch

  • Provides Logistical Technical Data support for Squadron 17/19, NSSC, Group 9, SSGN off-crews, and SSBN off-crews attached to the Off Crew Administration Building (OCAB).
  • Assist Trident off crews and associated 3M Coordinators with printing Automated Work Request for refit planning.
  • Provide SIPRNet ATIS databases for DEVRON 5, TRFB, Squadron 17/19, NSSC, Group 9, SSGN off-crews, and SSBN off-crews attached to the Off Crew Administration Building (OCAB).
  • Audits and updates the ATIS program for all Trident submarines homeported at TRFB and PSNS.
  • Provides ATIS training to sailors attached to the OCAB to help with researching and planning.
  • Audits, repairs, and updates all LTD materials onboard all Trident submarines homeported at TRFB and PSNS per the JFMM.

Structural Planning Division

  • Prepares Technical Work Documents for TRFB production personnel to execute submarine maintenance.
  • Performs Market Research and ordering of materials to provide to Structural Shops for the completion of submarine maintenance.
  • Provide Technical Work Documents for conducting corrective maintenance
  • Writes documents to support contracts for material services, statements of work and statements of urgency.
  • Develops performance work statements, statements of urgency and sole source documents.
  • Reviews technical manuals, IPI’s and UIPI’s for change and implementation.
  • Develops REC’s (re-entry controls) for all supporting Quality Assurance documents.  

 

Mechanical Planning Division

  • Prepares Technical Work Documents for TRFB Planned Maintenance to support upcoming refits.
  • Prepares Technical Work Documents in response to Ship’s Force generated 2-Kilos (New Work) during refit execution.
  • Provide support to production personnel to execute submarine maintenance. 
  • Provide Support to Ship’s Force personnel on testing and maintenance requirements.
  • Facilitates timely resolution and integration of any technical discrepancies during executing refits.
  • Provide initial contract support for TRFB refits

 

Electrical/Electronic Planning Division

  • Prepares and issues Technical Work Documents to meet technical and quality assurance requirements for the execution of submarine electrical, electronic, combat system, and strategic system maintenance.
  • Initiates the maintenance action’s logistics and material support requirements for the execution of submarine electrical, electronic, combat system, and strategic system maintenance.
  • Determines the maintenance action’s estimated required labor and material for the execution of submarine electrical, electronic, combat system, and strategic system maintenance.

 

Refit Industrial Facility Division

  • Prepares Controlled and Non-Controlled Technical Work Documents to include all associated testing and applicable Quality Assurance forms for TRFB production personnel to execute submarine non-nuclear planned maintenance, alterations and TRIPER/AERP overhaul work.
  • Provides accurate cost estimates and material logistics support for non-nuclear ship planned maintenance, alterations and TRIPER/AERP overhaul work.
  • Provide TRFB production personnel timely resolution and integration of technical discrepancies identified during executed Ship and TRIPER refits.
