Checking In - Military

Shipmate:

Congratulations on receiving orders to Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, Bath, ME (SUPSHIP Bath).  We look forward to you joining our team and hope your time with us is an enjoyable and gratifying experience.

SUPSHIP Bath’s mission is to deliver high-quality, affordable, and mission-ready ships to the U.S. Navy.  In recent years, we’ve transformed from a single site overseeing the construction of Arleigh Burke class destroyers at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, to a multi-site, multi-program office that oversees the design and construction of five Navy ships at four shipyards across the country.  We are a diverse, close-knit community of both military and civilians.  Our work is dynamic, demanding, and rewarding as we work with the shipbuilder and the Navy’s program offices to ensure the ships that come alive on our waterfronts are built in the best interests of the Fleet Sailor and the taxpayer.

We want you and your family’s transition to SUPSHIP Bath to be as smooth as possible.  You will receive a package from our Sponsor Coordinator shortly with reporting and Command information.   In the meantime, if you need any assistance, please contact GMC Michael Hoar at 207-837-2952 or michael.hoar@supshipba.navy.mil

For those of you reporting to Maine, the nearest Navy support facilities (e.g. Fleet and Family Support Services, Navy Exchange, commissary, clinic/dental) are located at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, a 1.5 hour drive south from Bath.  Although this presents a challenge for our military and their families, your sponsor can explain how to best obtain these services.
No matter what SUPSHIP Bath site you are reporting to, one thing you are sure to love is the geography.  There’s much to enjoy in sunny San Diego, beautiful Wisconsin and scenic Maine.  In the right column are a few links to explore the living and recreational opportunities each area offers.

Again, welcome to SUPSHIP Bath. We look forward to having you as a member of our shipbuilding team!

Sincerely,
Michael Taylor, CAPT, USN
Commanding Officer
