After Work – On Base

Naval Support Activity Bahrain (NSA Bahrain) is home to over 4,000 military and DoD Civilian Employees. Part of its mission is to “operate and sustain superior facilities and services for its tenant commands, their deployed assets and military members, DOD civilian personnel and dependents living in Bahrain.” One of the catalysts to “superior facilities and services” is the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department at NSA Bahrain. MWR programs promote active living through participation in recreation, fitness, sports, cultural arts, and other leisurely pursuits.

Typically, MWR facilities and programs are only available to members of the U.S. military and their families. While stationed in Bahrain however, United States Civil Servants (USCS) and their families are eligible patrons of MWR.

MWR Overview
MWR is a comprehensive network of support and leisure programs and services designed to improve the quality of life of service members, other eligible patrons, and their families. MWR consists of a wide range of programs and services including fitness and outdoor recreation, libraries, bowling centers, dining facilities, movie theaters, leisure travel, and Child and Youth programs. Available programs and services vary at each installation. This section will discuss in greater detail what “after work, on-base” options are available to you while serving at NSA Bahrain.
